How can I improve the suspension on my Holden Equinox?

Asked by Ian

We bought a new Holden Equinox LTZ-V last month. Love everything about the car, other than the harsh suspension that we didn't pick up on during the test drive. Every imperfection in a road surface, no matter how minor, is transferred through the car and felt by the occupants, like there is no suspension at all. Holden engineers are reported to have tailored the suspension of this US-designed car for Australian conditions. I think they have got it very wrong; it's far too rigid. Is there anything I can do, outside of Holden, to improve the ride quality?

Go to a suspension specialist like Pedders and they should be able to help you with shock absorbers, suspension bushes etc. to improve the ride. You could also talk to a tyre expert about tyres that might be more comfortable.
