Skoda Australia has increased the pricing of its Scala small hatch, but it comes with a small boost to safety and a new grade for the range.
The Scala range now costs $2500 more to get into. That’s the price increase on the entry grade Ambition with the manual gearbox, which now lists for $30,190 (plus on-road costs). The Ambition with the automatic transmission is $1500 more than before, at $31,990.
The Monte Carlo has increased in price by $800 and now lists for $34,190.
The Scala's Launch Edition has been replaced by the Signature grade. The Launch Edition listed for $35,990 and the Signature is $36,290, so a $300 bump there. The Signature's standard features are identical to the Launch Edition's, but more on that further down.
All grades now have a lane-keeping system added to the lane-assistance safety tech. This joins the Scala’s safety equipment list which includes AEB with rear manoeuvre braking, a reversing camera and seven airbags across the range.
The rest of the Scala’s equipment list also remains the same.
Coming standard on the Ambition is an 8.0-inch touchscreen multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, air-conditioning, adaptive cruise control, privacy glass, cloth seats and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The Monte Carlo comes with a tough-looking body kit with blacked-out elements such as the grille, rear diffuser and badging, plus black 18-inch alloy wheels. There’s also the sporty interior which includes fabric seats with red highlights.
The Monte Carlo grades brings with it a panoramic roof, LED headlights, a proximity key, dual-zone climate control and sports suspension.
As mentioned, the Scala's Launch Edition has now been replaced by the Signature grade, and it has exactly the same standard features. These include 18-inch Vega Aero alloy wheels, leather seats, a 9.2-inch media screen, sat-nav, an eight-speaker stereo, auto LED headlights, wireless Apple CarPlay, heated front seats and auto parking.
One engine is available across the Scala range; it's a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder making 110kW and 250Nm.
A six-speed manual gear box is available on the entry-grade Ambition along with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Monte Carlo and Signature can only be had with the dual-clutch auto.
