Another Geely electric car bound for Australia? 2025 Lynk & Co 02 revealed in Europe as an electric coupe SUV that shares a platform with the Zeekr X, Smart #1 and Volvo EX30

2025 Lynk & Co 02

Geely-owned car brand Lynk & Co has revealed the compact 02 coupe SUV in Europe this week, another potential addition to Geely's growing Australian catalogue.

In terms of both its design and powertrain, the 02 mirrors the Zeekr X, with which it shares Geely's Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) alongside the Smart #1 and Volvo EX30. All four vehicles utilise the same 66kWh battery pack and 200kW/343Nm electric motor that sends power to the rear wheels.

As such, the 02's 0-100km/h acceleration is practically on par with its siblings at a claimed 5.5 seconds, while it also shares a similar WLTP-certified driving range of 445km and a DC fast charging rate of 10-80 per cent in around 30 minutes.

The 02 isn’t designed to eat off the plate of other Geely-branded vehicles, however, with its sportier look, attributable to its fastback design, putting it in closer competition with the similarly-sized Peugeot e-3008 and Skoda Elroq.

It gets unique design features such as sabre-tooth LED headlights, which offer 'welcome' and 'goodbye' projections, and an unconventional rear spoiler that doubles as an LED tail-light bar.

Like the Zeekr X, there's the choice of 19-inch alloys on the entry level 02 Core or 20-inch alloys on the top-spec 02 More.

The interior design matches the minimalism of the Zeekr X, and indeed, the rest of the Geely range. Having said that, it adopts a slightly larger multimedia display, which is quoted at 15.4 inches compared to the Zeekr X’s 14.6 inches.

Both 02 variants also receive additional interior luxury features that are entirely unique to the range.

That includes an eight-speaker sound system on the 02 Core, which steps up to a 14-speaker Harman Kardon system that includes a subwoofer on the 02 More. It also gets dual wireless charging.

Additionally, there’s playful features like a selfie camera integrated into the rear-view mirror and a 'Hey Honk' feature that makes the sound of the horn customisable to alert pedestrians and cyclists.

Both vehicles are upholstered in sustainable materials, which includes recycled PET fabrics decorated in black, blue and orange on the 02 Core and synthetic leather in white and grey on the 02 More.

Pricing for the Lynk & Co 02 will start in Europe at €35,495 (A$57,514), a fraction more expensive than the base RWD Zeekr X, which will start at $56,900 when it arrives in Australia before the end of the year.

Right-hand-drive production hasn’t been confirmed yet, but Geely previously went on record in 2021 stating that Lynk & Co would be offered in Australia in 2025.

Geely’s current Australian catalogue includes Volvo, Lotus, Polestar and Smart, the latter of which it co-owns with Mercedes-Benz, while Zeekr and Geely's namesake brand, Geely Auto, are headed to Australia shortly.
