Jaguar's stonking XE SV Project 8 Touring is the "world's fastest production sedan"

Jaguar has revealed what it’s describing as the world's fastest production sedan, whipping the covers off the stonking XE SV Project 8 Touring.

You’ll remember the Project 8, I’m sure; the huge wing-wearing performance sedan limited to just 300 units.

This Touring is a slightly toned-down of that crazy unit, with the giant carbon-fibre rear wing swapped out for a more discreet rear spoiler, which pairs with a new and smaller front splitter. Only 15 will be made, and while Australian pricing isn't available, the Touring will wear a US$190k sticker overseas.

The “fastest” Jaguar is referring to, we think, is the Project 8’s flying top speed of 300km/h. That’s not to say it’s a slouch on the run to 100km/k, though; the British brand reckons it's speed-focused sedan will knock off the sprint in just 3.7 seconds.

In other words, it's very fast indeed. That pace arrives courtesy of the Jag’s supercharged 5.0-litre V8, good for a whopping 441kW and 700Nm.

“Project 8 has received outstanding critical acclaim since its launch, demonstrating the Special Vehicle Operations team’s ability to create a compact Jaguar sedan with supercar-rivalling performance," says Jaguar Special Vehicle Operations engineering director, Jamal Hameedi.

“Touring specification extends the appeal of Project 8 to performance car enthusiasts and collectors who prefer a more discreet appearance, without compromising its driver-focused on-road dynamics.”
