New electric hot hatch revealed but will the Abarth 500e and Cupra Born rivalling 2025 Mini John Cooper Works electric cars thrive despite global EV slump?
Even as Europe weathers a slump in the take-up of electric cars Mini is holding fast and recruiting more EVs into its range with the arrival of the new fully electric John Cooper Works versions of the Mini 3-Door and Aceman.
Mini used the Paris Motor Show to introduce the pair to the world and has detailed specs of the go-fast electric versions of the popular models targeting the Abarth 500e and Cupra Born.
Both the John Cooper Works 3-door Electric and John Cooper Works Aceman are powered by a motor with an output of 190KW and 350Nm, enough to propel the three-door from 0-100km/h in 5.9 seconds, with the Aceman only half-a-second behind at 6.4 seconds.
Both 'JCW' models have 54.2kWh batteries with the hatch achieving up to 371km of driving range and the Aceman 355km.
"With the new all-electric Mini John Cooper Works models, we are bringing the legendary performance and driving dynamics of Mini into a completely new era,” said Head of Mini Stefan Richmann.

“We are combining the tradition and character of the Mini brand with the latest technology to create a unique driving experience that will thrill our customers.”
John Cooper Works (JCW) has been crafting high performance Minis since the 1960s, creating powerful versions of the road-going little cars for racing which won over the hearts of the public.

As with all modern John Cooper Works Mini models, the electric cars have a recognisable sporty design and elements to enhance the racy feel of the cars.
In the case of these new John Cooper Works models each come with LED headlights that feature horizontal bars in the JCW Signature, black side skirts, aeroblades at the C-pillar and a rear roof-top spoiler.
