New model to challenge Tesla Model Y's dominance? Electric car with more than 560km range due to arrive in Australia next year in the form of the 2025 Skoda Elroq
Skoda said the Elroq will be available in several battery and motor combinations.
Entry-level rear-wheel drive examples pair a 125kW electric motor with a 55kWh battery to deliver a driving range of about 370km via the benchmark WLTP test cycle.
The next variant up is fitted with a 63kWh battery and has a more potent 150kW electric motor that drives the rear wheels. Driving range increases to more than 400km.

Then comes a 210kW rear-wheel drive variant equipped with an 82kWh battery to a driving range of more than 560km.
A dual motor version fitted with the big 82kWh battery will arrive at a later date.
Charging rates differ depending on battery size. The 55kWh version can accept a max of 145KW, the 63kWh battery can suck up 165kWh of juice and the biggest battery can be topped up with a max rate of 175kW. All can go from 10 to 80 per cent capacity in 24 to 28 minutes.

In Europe, the Elroq will start at about €33,000 ($53,000). Skoda claims the Elroq will be priced close to the similar sized petrol-powered Karoq in some markets. In Australia the Karoq is priced between $43,000 and $51,000.
There is a big focus on sustainability with lots of recycled materials used throughout. The seats are finished in synthetic leather and materials made out of recycled plastic and clothes.
It has lots of clever and practical features, which is a hallmark of Skoda. For example there is a charging cable holder on the boot door keeping it out of the way until its needed, alongside an umbrella in the door.
