Skoda’s second-generation Kodiaq mid-sized SUV is about to land in dealerships and the brand has just revealed what’s new.
The Kodiaq SUV is Skoda’s take on the closely related Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace-replacing Tayron, and like that model it has seven seats.
The Kodiaq range kicks off at $54,990 (before on-road costs) for the base Select grade and jumps to $58,990 for the Sportline variant. A limited edition Launch Edition ($63,490) is also available that combines the features of the Select and Sportline, except for the Sportline's larger wheels, gloss black exterior accents, and aluminium finish pedals.

Let’s go through the standard features and we’ll point out what’s new for this next-gen Kodiaq, too.
Standard equipment on the Select includes 19-inch alloy wheels (new), LED headlights and tail-lights, roof rails, LED ambient lighting, tinted rear and side windows, heated seats (new) and metallic paint (new).
There’s also upgraded three-zone climate control, smart climate and media dials (new), proximity key, upgraded charging ports with USB-C and 45W outlets, power tailgate, floor mats and a double-sided boot mat.
The list goes on with the Select also coming standard with a 13-inch media display (new), nine-speaker sound system (new), digital radio (new), a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, plus wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Stepping up to the Sportline adds upgraded Matrix LED headlights, dynamic indicators (new), 20-inch alloy wheels (new), Sportline glossy black exterior elements including front grille and roof rails, aluminium finish pedals, sports seats, synthetic leather upholstery, heated steering wheel and a premium sound system.
An optional Ultimate package for $4000 brings a Canton sound system, dynamic chassis control, head-up display, auto parking, surround-view camera, rear heated seats and a power front passenger seat.
As for the engines the Select and Sportline are powered by the same 140 TSI turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine making 140kW and 320Nm. Both are all-wheel drive and have a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
A launch edition of the Kodiaq will also be on offer for a limited time. This special launch grade will have all of the Select's standard features but adds massaging front seats, dynamic chassis control, auto parking, surround-view camera, Matrix LED headlights, Canton sound system, head-up display, panoramic glass roof, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, and power adjustable front seats.
Specifications for the range-topping RS are yet to be announced but you can expect all of the features from the Sportline with its Ultimate Package, plus sporty design elements and a more powerful engine.
