The G20 is the entry-spec engine variant in the new Mazda3 range which can be had in the Pure grade from $24,990, the Evolve grade from $26,690 and the Touring grade from $28,990.
Those prices are for G20 cars with the manual gearbox, but if you want the automatic transmission, you’ll only need to pay $1000 more.
The G20 is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine making 114kW/200Nm.
The level of standard features across the range of cars with G20 engines is seriously good. Coming standard on all cars is a head-up display, an 8.8-inch screen, reversing camera, sat nav (GPS), adaptive cruise control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital (DAB+) radio, Bluetooth and steering wheel mounted controls.
All Mazda3s come loaded with advanced safety equipment such as AEB, blind spot monitoring and lane keeping assistance.
The G20 Pure and G20 Evolve have cloth seats, while the G20 Touring has leather with a power adjustable driver’s seat.
Only the G20 Pure misses out on paddle shifters and dual-zone climate control but has single-zone air-conditioning instead.
