A racy all-new grade was launched alongside the facelifted version of the third-gen Qashqai in early 2025, in the shape of the N-Design.

An e-Power hybrid-only proposition with no internal combustion engine (ICE) option, this is the UK-built small SUV’s sporty/luxury flagship, with lots of glossy trim, striking 20-inch alloys and body-coloured bumpers.

The N-Design is actually based on the Ti spec, but also brings in a panoramic glass roof, hands-free remote tailgate, head-up display, Alcantara seat trim on the seats, dash and door panels, and 20-inch alloys. You also receive the Ti’s driver-assist safety systems, extensive wireless multimedia set-up, electronic instrumentation, ambient lighting, privacy glass, roof rails and more.

Under the bonnet is Nissan’s acclaimed e-Power tech, meaning a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine, making 116kW of power and 250Nm of torque on its own, charging a 2.1kWh lithium-ion battery and inverter, powering an electric motor. Nothing needs to be plugged in.

Not only are total power and torque outputs a healthy 140kW and 330Nm respectively, the e-Power also delivers exceptional fuel economy – 4.8L/100km and 112g/km of CO2 emissions.

The bad news is pretty much limited to a noticeably smaller boot compared to other Qashqais – including the Ti-L e-Power that sacrifices its spare wheel more capacity. Blame the unique 18-inch temporary (alloy) spare, resulting in just 404L (five-seats up) and 1328L (rear backrest down) of luggage space.

Finally, the N-Design follows all other MY25 Qashqais with the regular five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty. But if serviced at a Nissan dealer, that jumps to 10 years/300,000km, as well as 10 years of road-side assistance.
