Geely made a tentative entry to the Australian market when Western Australian importer John Hughes Geely launched the Chinese brand in 2010 with the Geely MK hatch, which had the distinction of being the cheapest car sold on the local market at the time. Plans called for the larger EC7 sedan to be introduced, but when it failed to pass the company's safety bar those plans were put on hold. The brand's Australian future remains in limbo pending the availability of new models.
