    The Porsche Boxster and Cayman came under one roof for the ‘718’ generation of Porsche’s life support sports car.

    The Boxster brought prosperity back to a streamlined German sports car maker in the late 1990s and the Cayman broadened its appeal further.

    Headlined by the GT4 RS, the new iteration of Porsche’s mid-ship will go all electric leaving the 911 as the sole flat-six flag flyer in the range.

    The line-up currently starts at $132,500 for the 718 Cayman and ranges through to $335,300 for the range-topping 718 Spyder RS.

    Porsche 718 Engine

    The 718 Boxster and Cayman range starts with the 220kW/380Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine.

    The Boxster/Cayman S has 2.5-litre 257kW/420Nm four-cylinder 'boxer' engine.

    The Boxster and Cayman GTS 4.0 gets upgraded to Porsche's famous 4.0-litre flat six-cylinder engine. In the GTS it makes 294kW/430Nm.

    The Spyder RS and GT4 RS has the same 4.0-litre flat-six and makes even more performance, 368kW/450Nm.

    Porsche 718 Speed

    The 0-100km/h time of the entry-grade Cayman is 5.1 seconds, while the Cayman S can sprint from 0-100km/h in 4.6 seconds.

    The Cayman GTS 4.0 has a 0-100km/h time of 4.5 seconds but the king of the range - the GT4 RS can do it in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 315km/h.

    The newer 718 Spyder RS takes just 3.4 seconds to run 0-100km/h, only 10.9 seconds to get from 0-200km/h and will hit a top speed of 308km/h.

    The Porsche 718 Boxster/Cayman and Boxster/Cayman S have leather seats as a no-cost option in black and 'Agate Grey'.

    The GTS gets 'Race-Tex' (synthetic suede) or leather upholstery in black for the seats as standard.

    At the top of the Cayman range is the GT4 RS which is outfitted with the Race-Tex interior package in black or 'Arctic Grey', while the Boxster-based Spyder RS has a combination of Race-Tex and leather.

    Porsche 718 Accessories

    The Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman include 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, power adjustable and heated sports seats, media display with navigation, Apple CarPlay, an eight-speaker stereo and dual-zone climate control as standard.

    Moving up to the Boxster S/Cayman S adds 20-inch alloy wheels, proximity unlocking and a Bose sound system.

    The top two grades - the GTS and GT4 RS - add their own performance-related features. The GTS, for example, comes with an auto-deploying rear spoiler while the GT4 has a large fixed rear wing.

    The range-topping Boxster, the 718 Spyder RS, gets a unique body and aerodynamic package.
