Nedahl has been a journalist for two decades, spending five years as editor of Cleo magazine and has been an editor at Cosmopolitan, Good Food and the Fairfax ‘Health’ section. She’s written across various topics for a range of high-profile food, health, travel and fashion-focused titles. She’s also appeared on The Today Show, Sunrise, A Current Affair, various radio programs and has been a guest judge on Australia’s Next Top Model.

Since having two children, you’ll more likely find her at the beach with the family than at a fashion show, doing a bunch of yoga classes, or cooking healthy food while drinking a glass of wine. And of course, the right family car is critical to keeping it all moving smoothly. A roomy cabin, plenty of boot space and stylish interiors rate high on her priority list. She also believes pink is the new black (except when it comes to cars) and that we should ditch single-use plastics.

The Mitsubishi Outlander is generally used as a five seat, mid-size SUV. That is, unless you get the Exceed model, which is the top-of-the-range and has two spare seats in the boot, propelling it into that small category of cars just that bit more practical than their five seat counterparts. It...Read more
The new B-Class from Mercedes is being pitched as a family car, even though it’s a five seater hatchback. Because sometimes parents want small cars and they make really good second run-arounds too, if you have a larger one already. To make doubly sure it was going to work for families, I tested it...Read more
After a large car? With all the trimmings? And a price to match? You've come to the right page! The BMW X7 is huge, has all the extras you could hope for and a price to reflect that. It looks dreamy, even for a large car and is a peach to drive. This is the X7 xDrive30d which costs $119,990, before...Read more
If you’re after a large, good-looking SUV and have around $90K to spend (before extras), you’ve come to the right page. The new Volkswagen Touareg is a real step up from your usual VW and this 'Launch Edition' competes on the next level, with the Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90 - even though they have seven...Read more
It’s so interesting to watch the growth of electric cars and how they are expanding into every category. This Nissan Leaf is a five-seater hatchback . It looks pretty good from the outside and you wouldn’t guess it had an electric motor if it wasn’t for the big 'Zero Emissions' stamped on the...Read more
This week it was back to school and work after the holidays, which meant the usual cycle of school drop offs and activities, so it was essential to have a good sized car the whole family would fit into. Enter the Lexus NX 300 Crafted - not your ordinary Lexus NX either. The ‘Crafted’ name is...Read more
Toyota’s RAV4 has come a long way since I reviewed the last one a year ago. It’s had a complete overhaul and I don’t think Toyota has kept a thing the same. It’s got a brand new design and this GX 2WD I drove is a hybrid, which keeps fuel costs down. Toyota’s RAV4 has got a brand new design. The GX...Read more
It’s nice to have a different mid-size SUV to choose from, rather than the usual players. Renault’s Koleos is a five-seat, mid-size SUV that competes with cars like the Nissan X-Trail, Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, so it sways towards the large end of that category. I test drove the Koleos over a...Read more
When your family has grown beyond two children, to three, four or five, you’ll be looking at seven-seat SUVs, which is where the SsangYong Rexton comes in. It’s made in Korea but this brand isn’t as well known as the other Korean car companies, Kia and Hyundai . It sits in a category with other...Read more
The more I drive wagons, the more I like them. Besides being more spacious (usually) than SUVs, they’re also sleeker and better looking! Would you give up your SUV for a wagon, though? It’s a big call, but the Volkswagen Passat wagon may just convince you. I was in the Passat 206TSI R-Line which is...Read more

Now, this is a fun looking car. The Subaru XV is known as a SUV version of the ever-popular Impreza, so it’s higher off the road and travels like an SUV but isn’t large, like its big sisters the Forester and Outback. It’s in the small SUV category and competes with cars like the Honda HR-V and...Read more
This week I had the arduous task of driving two hours out of Sydney, just to pick something up, which as you can imagine I wasn’t looking forward to. It was lucky then, I was test driving the BMW X1, a small SUV which seats five people and is in competition with cars like the Audi Q3, the Mercedes...Read more
Small hatches can be good family cars if you’ve got a young family. You might not want an SUV yet (large, cumbersome and more expensive) or you might be looking at a small car as a second runaround that you can zip around in and park easily. The Holden Astra hatch is a five seater that’s in...Read more
The Mini Countryman is an interesting beast, isn’t it? It’s a Mini, but not mini at all. In fact, it’s a five-seater SUV, for those who love the unique styling of a MIni but want more space to fit the family. It still looks like a Mini , just an oversized one, and is in competition with cars like...Read more
Somehow the Mazda3 is a car that caters to families. New ones anyway. True story: Right before I had my first baby, we bought a Mazda3. Weirdly enough, I know a bunch of other couples who also did this. So what is it about this car that makes it work for singles, couples, and new families? This new...Read more
Whether you need a van for work or because you have a large family, it’s about how driving a van makes you feel, ammiright? I was stopped on the street by a complete stranger, a mum with three small boys in tow who said, “do you like your van? My husband wants to buy one but I really don’t know.”...Read more
