Ford Falcon 2005: Paint peel
Asked by Neil Robertson
I purchased a new 2005 XR6 in Shockwave Blue. This happened to be the colour that didn't bond to the primer and soon started to show signs of 'Shockwave Peel'. After returning my car to Ford on three occasions to have the paintwork rectified I thought my problems were over. Now it appears that only the external surfaces were repainted and now the 'peel' is appearing in apertures around the boot lid, bonnet and in time will no doubt start peeling from the door apertures as well. Light surface rust has also appeared on these peeling surfaces. Ford tells me that the Shockwave program has been terminated and that they can no longer help me. As a retiree I thought this car would be with me for some time. No doubt others are in the same position. Do you have any suggestions to address this situation?

4 Aug 2017The problem you have got is that the car is now 12 years old and could be expected to have some issues with body and paint. Ford has already come to the party three times, and I reckon that demonstrates the company’s support for owners with the problem. If you really want to pursue it go to the state government consumer affairs department and seek their advice.
