A couple of weeks ago we read a report from Noelene Nolan regarding troubles with her 2010 Barina. We experienced exactly the same symptoms with our 2010 Barina. For two years there was no trouble, then at 25,000km it started playing up, intermittently would not start, engine malfunction light on, car running very rough and underpowered. Our dealer was very good about it, they tried a few things and thought they had identified the problem, but it kept recurring. On the third visit, they replaced the 'Throttle Actuator Control System' as they found 'an internal failure in the throttle body, the butterfly valve not opening on start up'. They fitted a new Throttle Body Assembly, and the car is back to normal.

14 Jun 2013It's great that your dealer was able to find the cause of your problem and fix it. It's difficult to find a problem when it doesn't manifest itself when the car is with the dealer, he's then fishing around in the dark hoping to stumble on it. Anyone whose car is suffering from an intermittent problem should take heart from your report and persist in trying to get it solved.
