Alarmed, not dangerous

Asked by Errol Loynes

I BOUGHT a MG ZT 260 V8 in 2005 and, apart from no warranty, I have two problems. First, the airconditioning system has stopped working; and second, when the car has been sitting in the sun the alarm goes off when I start the engine. It usually stops after about 12 blasts, but recently lasted nearly 25 minutes. The remote key does not stop it. My dealer says these are software problems that cannot be fixed because of lack of updates from the manufacturer, which no longer exists. Do you know who might be able to help? Apart from these faults, it is a great car.

ANY competent airconditioning specialist could get your airconditioning system working. Same for the alarm, which I'm sure could be sorted out by a competent alarm specialist. I would speak to your local MG Car Club and ask for their advice on competent experts on these Rover MGs.
