Ask Smithy Xtra Dodgy wheel alignment
Asked by Paul Anderson
After having had the tyres rotated on my 2004 V6 Camry and the wheel alignment done I noticed that my steering wheel was not correctly aligned. To rectify this without the airbag going off in my face, do I just need to disconnect the battery and wait a little while before attempting to fix it?

21 Sep 2010Don’t do it, get the wheel alignment done correctly. Whoever did the wheel alignment hasn’t adjusted the tie-rod ends correctly. You can remove the steering wheel, but unless it’s a full spline out it won’t line up anyway. When you replace the wheel you will find there will be a code showing a problem with the airbag and you will have to reset the code. That would be a problem.
