Ask Smithy Xtra Falcon in neutral

Asked by Jaime Caillot de Chadbannes.

My 1997 Ford Falcon automatic is in really good condition, but slips into neutral for a second before clunking back into drive when rounding a roundabout. It only happens in the first few minutes of driving, and only during a right-hand turn. What should I do?

I would suggest that you replace the transmission fluid. That might be enough to fix your problem, but it sounds like the transmission needs a full service.
