The front chassis on my 2009 Navara STX 2009 has cracked badly after only 18 months of use and just 44,000 km. Before delivery I had a genuine Nissan nudge bar and Nissan Australia now claims that the UHF aerial I fitted onto the nudge bar altered it and there would be no warranty. The dealer is disgusted with Nissan Australia?s attitude. In my whole life I have never seen a cracked chassis caused by a UHF aerial weighing a few grams. I have many problems with the car and Nissan will not honour any of them. I have no way of contacting Nissan except through the dealer. Should I just repair the cracked chassis and forget about Nissan?

5 Oct 2010The treatment you have received is appalling. The idea that a UHF antenna fitted to the nudge bar could be enough to crack the chassis is laughable. If the chassis of the Navara is that weak then everyone driving one should be deeply concerned. Don’t repair it; Nissan should be doing that under warranty. The dealer seems to be on your side, so enlist his help in contacting Nissan. Nissan’s headquarters is in Melbourne, their phone number is 03 9797 4111.
