Recently our GU II Nissan Patrol 3.0TD failed. It blew out a lot of smoke and is now running roughly. Apparently holed pistons are common with this motor. It has only done 135,000 km. What steps do I need to take to get this fixed so I am not out of pocket?

12 May 2010The 3.0-litre turbo diesel Patrol is renowned for blowing pistons, but you’re talking about a car that is up to 10 years old. The best you could expect is for Nissan to cover part of the cost of rebuilding the engine, something they have done with some other owners.
