Nissan Tiida 2006: Starting issues

Asked by Mark Downes

My wife owns a 2006 Nissan Tiida ST and through some strange turn of events my mother owns a 2006 Tiida Q. We have been noticing lately that the car will crank over but not start. After a few goes of pulling the key out and pushing it back in the car will finally start but it is a concern that the car is so new. We mentioned this to my mother and she mentioned that she has a similar issue with her car. Is this a common fault with the Tiida and if so is there a fix available? If not is there anything you could suggest to help me troubleshoot the problem?

The battery in the Tiida really is only marginal for the job, and if the power drops the car won’t start, even though it might crank over. The on-set of winter has exacerbated the issue. Buy a better battery.
