The transmission in my Honda Accord 1998 VTi auto sedan has been replaced three times. It had 54,000 km on it when I bought from a Honda dealer in 2004 and it?s now done 175,000 km and has been regularly serviced by an independent mechanic. The car needs to be warmed up for at least 15 min otherwise it will shudder and stop every time it comes to a stop unless it?s shifted into neutral. Is it a known fault and what can I do to try to prevent it continuing?

11 Jan 2011There is something seriously wrong with the car for the transmission to fail three times in 175,000 km, that’s not normal. Could it have been crashed before you bought it? I would start by checking it to make sure the chassis is square and not out of alignment.
