Attention fellow BF Falcon owners
Asked by Ryan Holmes
After reading Murray Cox's concerns about the heavy downshift at around 80 km/h in his BF Falcon I can offer some helpful advice that should solve his problem. It's known as lock-up boom and I know of the problem from when I worked for Ford. The transmission will need a revised valve body that was redesigned by the transmission manufacturer (DSI) specifically to fix the problem. Murray will need to take the dealer for a road test on the freeway with the transmission at normal operating temp, floor the throttle to induce kick-down at approximately 80-90 km/h, and the thump he complains about should be evident.
