We've just been quoted $4000 to replace the timing chains in our 2006 Holden Commodore Wagon. Is this an average accurate figure on this sort of repair? Have not had any experience with this sort of problem? Will be getting a second quote regardless but some other feedback would be great.

20 May 2016Worn timing chains are quite common on the V6 engine in the Commodore. A change was made to the pitch of the chain, but the jury is out about the effectiveness of the change. In any case have the mechanic fit the updated chains when the makes the replacement. It is a costly repair according to our trade contacts, but we’re told $4000 is very high.
