Toyota Prado: Brake shudder

Asked by Graeme Sanders

For about six months I have experienced what I thought was brake shudder in my 2008 Toyota Prado GXL 3.0-litre turbo-diesel. It was particularly evident when descending a hill. The solution on advice was to replace the rotors and brake pads, which I recently did, but the problem still exists and I am now being told it could be the antiskid system. The pulsating occurs under any braking situation and feels like the brakes are applying and releasing in a regular ON/OFF pattern. How can it be fixed?

You need to have the ABS system checked; it sounds like a dodgy wheel sensor or something similar.
