Toyota Camry 2011: Warranty repairs not working

Asked by Craig McErvale

After numerous attempts while my car was under warranty, Toyota claimed they had 'fixed' an issue on my 2011 Camry Atara S. Less than a year later, the 'fix' no longer exists and the initial problem is worse than ever. However, now that the warranty has expired Toyota won't re-fix their work unless I pay them to do it. Is Toyota obliged to fix this problem again (under warranty) given that they didn't fix the problem sufficiently when it was under warranty?

If it is the same problem that has recurred and you have the paperwork from past attempts to fix it then I think you have a good case to say that Toyota should fix it. Remember that just because the Toyota warranty has expired, it doesn't mean you are not covered. You still have the consumer protection laws to fall back on.
