Can you recommend an SUV for my family?

Asked by Elise

Our family is looking for a smaller SUV to get us through 2-3 years. I was originally looking at the Mazda CX-5, but we need something a bit cheaper to use everyday around town.
I like the look of the Kia Sportage and know it compares with the CX-5 and also has good re-sale value. How does a 2011 Sportage compare to a Nissan Dualis 2010-2012? Which would be better for around town and everyday use? In 2-3 years when we are looking to upgrade, which is going to sell better? As there are new models out for both of those cars now. Any advice would be appreciated.

Both are well suited to everyday use around town. They're comfortable, fuel-efficient and safe. The Dualis is a little cheaper than the Sportage, but I would definitely go for the Sportage. I would expect them to have a similar resale value when it comes time to sell, but the reputation of the Sportage for quality and reliability would make it easier to move on.
