THE engine in our 2000 Kia Carnival has water in the oil, having done 130,000km since being replaced at 65,000km by the previous owner. I have been told water in the oil is a common problem with the Carnival -- is this correct? I have received quotes of $8500 for a reasonable reconditioned replacement engine, or $11,000 for a good one -- do these prices sound right to you?

8 Jan 2010THIS is a common problem with early Carnivals. Kia rebuilt engines when it was widespread, and I guess the engine in yours was rebuilt by the previous owner. I would be sure to have the engine rebuilt by someone who knows what they're doing so that hopefully it won't happen again.
