I PREVIOUSLY owned an MY99 Subaru WRX Impreza hatchback that had similar issues to those described by Jim West (Carsguide, July 14). Like his, my engine hunted, but I fixed it myself after several Subaru dealers couldn't. The first thing to check is that the airflow meter is clean and there is no oil or dirt build-up. If there is, clean it with brake cleaner in spray form.
