Asked by Chris Berry
Every time I slow down, move away from stationary, or go over rough surfaces in my 2012 Corolla Levin ZR the plastic around the gearshift "creaks". I have taken the salesman out in the car and he agrees that there is an issue, but the service department maintains there isn't. They have road-tested the car several times and say that I will have to live with it. In a car that cost me $32,000 I find this totally unacceptable. What is my next course of action?

12 Jul 2013Take the car back to the dealer and ask that a service technician go with you in the car so you can demonstrate what it is that upsets you. That way you can come to an agreement on whether there is a problem or not, and what might be done to fix it if it is agreed that a problem exists.
