EF Falcon fails to start
Asked by T A E M
Some days our 1994 EF Falcon will not start in the morning, on other days it starts first time. The engine cranks, but it will not start. If we leave it for half an hour it starts first time. We have had the car on every type of diagnostic equipment and replaced every part under the bonnet. The wiring, electrical and every other component has been replaced or tested with no success. Any suggestions?

19 Aug 2010Try and establish whether or not it's firing during this starting phase. If it isn't you should look for an electrical problem, if it is you should look to the fuel system. On the day it won't start, remove the spark plugs and check them for any wetness that might suggest it could be flooding. I the plugs are black and wet clean and dry them and replace them and try again. If it starts this time I would be looking to the fuel-injectors.
