After 148,000 km the automatic transmission in my 2008 Ford Escape is giving trouble. When cold it thumps on 1-2 shifts, and hesitates on 2-3 shifts; when hot it seems to be unsure of what gear it wants to select when downshifting. The dealer checked and there were no error codes showing up. What do you think it might be?

20 May 2016At 148,000 km it would be worth servicing the ’box, particularly if the car has been doing any towing. I would also check with your Ford dealer to see if Ford has released any software updates for the transmission.
