Ford Escape 2001: Towing capability?
Asked by Dave
WE OWN a 2001 V6 Ford Escape which we use to tow a caravan with a tare weight of 1080kg. Though it pulls quite well on the flat, it struggles on hills. We are going on a trip around Australia soon. Do you think we will make it without trouble?

13 Jul 2006ONCE loaded, you will be travelling close to the Escape's limit of 1600kg, so you need to be careful. If you stay within Ford's recommendation I can't see a problem, but get the Escape serviced, including checks of the auto transmission, airconditioning and cooling.
