Holden Colorado 2009: Why is my car making a noise when started?
Asked by Lachlan
My 2009 Holden Colorado ute has a noise like a leaky exhaust when first moving off. I have been told that the exhaust is fine, but the problem may be the tappets out of adjustment or a burned valve. Any thoughts?

11 Oct 2019It’s not likely to be a burned valve, as the engine would be running roughly if it were. It could be the tappets. Next time you start the engine lift the bonnet and take a moment or two to listen to the engine to see if you can get an idea of where the noise is coming from.
