Honda Accord wind noise

Asked by Steve Anderson

I have had a number of Honda cars in the past and been happy but now I have an annoying and unresolved issue with a Honda Accord I bought last October. The dealer has confirmed that the wind noise on the driver's side is excessive, but they then did "corporate handball" and said they could do nothing to resolve it without authority from Honda Australia. A Honda representative did test drive the car and confirmed wind noise, but "in his opinion" it is not excessive. It seems to me that they are not prepared to accept the issue with this particular vehicle and/or perhaps that it is in fact a full-on design fault that requires a model recall to get fixed. I would be interested to find out if you have heard if this is a problem with this model, and what Honda plans to do about rectifying since I feel that I have hit a brick wall within Australia.

Honda Australia's spokeswoman, Melissa Cross, replies: "Honda Australia and the dealership has extensively tested the customer's vehicle and found no issue. The vehicle was also tested against a similar model and we found both to perform identically in all respects. The customer was advised the sound he is hearing is the air passing over the outside of the vehicle and it is within acceptable levels for the model. We regret that we are unable to satisfy the customer in this instance."
