How do I replace the lower ball joints in my 2009 Ford Territory?

Asked by Luke

Do the lower ball joints in my 2009 Ford Territory SY Mk 2 have to be pressed out, or can they be just hit out to be replaced?

They should be pressed out; bashing them out will most likely damage the control arms. Take the arms to a local mechanic and have him press them out.
