Import info

Asked by Danny

MY BROTHER has been living in England for some time and is thinking of importing a Mercedes ML320 CDI, which he says are rather cheap. How difficult is it to import the vehicle to Australia and have it registered here? Can you tell me who to speak to so we can get more information?

YOU'RE talking about a personal import. Go to the website of the Department of Infrastructure, Transport Regulation Development and Local Government and you will find all the information you need and a form for applying for approval to import a vehicle. The address is: www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle--regulation/bulletin/importing--vehicles/index.aspx.
