Jaguar S-type restricted performance message

Asked by Ray

We recently bought a 2007 2.7-litre turbo diesel Jaguar S-type and a couple of times a restricted performance message has come up on the dash and the vehicle goes into a limp home mode. This only lasts a short time and then the vehicle runs well again. To date this has only happened a couple of times and I am wondering what could be causing the problem.

It's likely to be a faulty sensor, or a wiring problem related to a sensor.
