Kia gearbox service
Asked by Shane Vessey
My 2006 Kia Rio has an intermittent fault with the auto gearbox. It occurs when the car is on an incline or a roundabout and you go to kick-down. The car shudders, there's a 'bang' and then the change occurs and off you go. It happened again the other day entering a freeway. I put my foot down to merge, but the car hesitated, lost forward motion momentarily, then went "bang", and accelerated. Two Kia dealers I have taken it to couldn't get it to happen, neither could the RACQ. This is getting dangerous. What can I do?

29 Sep 2010Take it back to the Kia dealer and demand it be fixed. Leave it with them until you are convinced they have fixed it, don't drive it away unless they can demonstrate to your satisfaction that it is fixed. In the meantime demand a replacement cars to drive while yours is being fixed.
