Listen to diff

Asked by Steve Jones - e-mail

I AM considering buying a Series 3 Nissan Skyline R31. In doing some research, I became aware the R31 experienced considerable problems with the differential. Do you know if the differential was fixed or was the actual design/replacement likely to prematurely fail as well?

YES, the Skyline did have some diff problems, so listen carefully for any noise coming from the diff when test driving. It's not a huge problem so don't be put off as replacement diffs can be bought for $200-$300.
