I have just purchased a new BMW X1 23d and while I knew it didn't have a spare tyre because it has run flats I was astonished to find it didn't have a jack or a wheel brace either. There is an optional jack kit available in other markets, but it is not available in Australia! Wouldn't you think BMW would be aware of Australian driving conditions, especially in the country and remote areas where such items are essential? What do you think?

29 Sep 2010It doesn't have a spare so I guess their thinking us that you don't need a jack or a wheel brace. Without a spare you have to take your X1 to a dealer or tyre outlet when you have a problem with a run-flat and they have the equipment to remove the wheels. It's also an indication of how many BMW owners take their vehicles offroad.
