How long should it take to remove and replace the engine in a 2007 Corolla and replace the timing chain and cam gears? I?m not happy that this has had to be done at 110,000 km because they were worn. I would think that at the moment there is only a handful of this model at this mileage so I guess there is some twitching going on at Toyota. The symptoms were, in the first five to 10 minutes of driving, as soon as the engine hit about 2700 rpm the cam chain would rattle quite loudly. To its credit Toyota paid half the cost.

27 Apr 2011We haven’t had any other reports of cam chain/gear wear on the Corolla, so it’s hard to say it’s a widespread problem, but the company stepped in and covered half the cost so there’s not a lot to be unhappy about.
