Toyota HiLux 1997: Should a second hand vehicle come with a jack?

Asked by Pam Baker

Two days ago I purchased a 1997 Toyota HiLux from a dealer discovered that it didn’t have a jack. Is it a requirement when selling a secondhand vehicle that a jack is supplied with it?

There is no legal requirement that a used car must have a jack, but reputable dealers usually make sure there is one before they sell it. I would take the car back and ask the dealer to supply you with one.
