Small car with good resale value?

Asked by Morrie Granek

My son wrote-off his Toyota Yaris hitting a parked truck and needs a replacement. In that class of car, say a Hyundai i20 or a Yaris, what would you suggest is a reliable safe car with a reasonable resale value? The car needs to be small to fit in my garage. I tried the i30 and it was too long to park side on to my wife's car, also a Yaris.

It sounds as if you are Yaris fans but the Mazda2 gets The Tick and is best in the class. The i20 will give you better value and, with a five-year factory warranty, it's holding its value well on the second-hand scene.
