After having my 2007 Subaru Forester serviced the mechanic informed me that the "diff" is making a noise and I will have to have it repaired, which will be a big job. It's only done 59,000 km and has been serviced according to the book. Do you think this should happen to a car in this timeframe?

30 Nov 2012Rear diffs on that model Forester are known to be a problem, even at low kays like yours, but it's important to make sure it's not a wheel bearing that's making the noise. Your mechanic should be able to identify it if it is a wheel bearing issue.
