OUR 2004 Toyota Camry V6 is going nicely, and runs equally well on regular or the higher-octane unleaded, but we have heard different stories about the build-up of deposits in the fuel injectors. On the one hand we are told if you use regular unleaded you should use a container of fuel-injector cleaner once a year, but if you use the higher-octane fuel there is no issue. Finally, we are told not to worry about anything unless the car doesn't seem to run as efficiently, in which case we might need to have the fuel injectors cleaned. Can you provide some guidance about this?

14 Aug 2009A MECHANIC mate recommends using the cleaner regularly, whether running on regular unleaded or premium. He advises using it once a month, not once a year, which is too infrequent to be of any benefit.
