Toyota HiAce 2003: Which variant is the best?

Asked by Sam

I'm considering buying a 2003 LWB Toyota Hiace, either the SBV or the "regular" version. Is there any downside to buying the SBV versus the regular, e.g. reliability or maintenance cost etc.?

And what would one with about 230,000 km on the odometer and otherwise reasonable condition be worth in your opinion?

There’s no real difference in reliability or maintenance, but the SBV is more comfortable and feels a little safer with a little more sheetmetal ahead of you. I would prefer to be driving the SBV. It’s value would be $6000-$8000.
