Value of 1996 Falcon wagon?

Asked by Stu Pol

I was in an accident while driving my friend's 1996 Falcon XR6 manual wagon. It had done 320,000km, was converted to gas, had faded paint, the horn was not working, it needed wheel alignment, the roof lining was coming undone, and the front guard was replaced with slight different colour red. I need a guide valuation on it, because I believe he thinks it was worth far more than it actually is. I don't want to be unfair, and I really want to do the right thing, but I can't afford to just throw money at him to make him happy.

In good condition, which his clearly isn't, a 1996 XR6 would be worth $2000-$3500. In its damaged condition, his is worth scrap value, barely worth $500.
