Volkswagen Multivan 2010: Engine replacement or rebuild?

Asked by James

Our 2010 VW Multivan broke down in Sydney, but we live in Canberra. The car is at an NRMA workshop in Hornsby. They have told us we either need a full rebuild or a new engine, with both quoted at approximately $10,500. I feel like we have a gun at our heads and I am not sure how I can check we are getting the right advice.

If you are not sure get another opinion. That would probably mean having it trucked to another location, but that’s the best thing to do to make sure the advice you are getting is correct.
