My VW Polo had done 72,000 km in 2013 when I bought it and it has now done 199,012 km. Last week I had to change my gearbox because it was broken. The clutch plate is still okay but I want to know how it is possible because I have two friends with the same problem as mine and our cars are manuals. Is it impossible, or am I wrong? I’ve also owned a 1999 model since 2008, and never touched its gearbox.

10 Aug 2018It is unusual to have to replace a manual gearbox at any time, but to have to do it at just 199,000 km is unacceptable. Take it up with VW and see if they would cover at least part of the cost of the replacement.
