Volvo XC60 2014: Leaking clutch seals in automatic transmission

I own a 2014 Volvo XC60 D5 AWD which has covered 56,000 km and always been serviced by a Volvo dealership. Recently it developed a "jolt" when changing from Reverse to Drive. On inspection by a Volvo dealership it was diagnosed as having leaking clutch seals in the automatic transmission. Volvo said it would cover 80 per cent of the $4000-plus dollar repair, leaving me $950 out of pocket. Bearing in mind the low K's of the vehicle and having always been serviced by a Volvo authorised dealership, do you think this out of pocket is reasonable? Personally I think an automatic transmission should be more robust considering the low K's, no off-road use and complete service history.

21 Jun 2019Yes, I think it’s reasonable, nothing lasts forever, and you’ve had a good run out of the car to date. Accept it and move on.
